Soft Transformations

Through experimental hand-sewn techniques, this textile sculpture project explores the transformation of static textiles into organic, asymmetrical forms. Threads weave lines of blue, white, neon green, neon yellow, and dark green, creating soft, wrinkled textures. The artist embraces slowness, compressing the material to craft unique expressions in textile art. 2023.

Exhibitor’s text

The project Soft Transformations is created by designer and textile artist Jens Ole Árnason and consists of two textile works created through topstitch / machine sewing and hand sewing.

Inspired by AR (augmented reality), which opens up possibilities for the perception of form and space in the context of art, Árnason seeks to transform the flat textile into organic sculptural 3D. 

The intention of the project is to challenge the possibilities and limitations of the material as well as the viewer's perception of the textile as an art material.
